The model is suitable for the genre of portrait photography, cope with filming weddings and sporting events. Its main advantage is a focal length of 135 mm, coupled with f / 1.8 aperture. The lens draws a sharp picture already from an open aperture, is not affected by chromatic and spherical aberrations, and amazing bokeh is also characteristic of it.

Beautiful background blur is provided by the 9-blade rounded aperture diaphragm design. The Sony FE 135mm F1.8 GM is equipped with focus and aperture rings. The first ring has a linear motion, the second one rotates both stepwise and steplessly, which will be appreciated by videographers. The autofocus speed of the lens can be increased by a three-position distance limiter. The model is compatible with 82 mm light filters, weighs less than a kilogram (950 g) and is assembled in a housing with dimensions of 90x127 mm.
