The optical design of the Sony SEL-1224G 12-24mm F4 G has 17 elements, united under the wing of 13 groups. There are four aspherical lenses on board, plus a number of elements made of low-dispersion glass (to minimize the negative impact on the picture of chromatic and other types of aberrations). When zooming and focus, they all move inside the lens body, which has dust and water protection properties. Speaking of focus, the Shirik uses the Direct Drive Super Sonic Wave autofocus drive to aim at the target. The minimum focus distance is only 28 cm. Internal focus

The lens minimally distorts the geometry of objects in the frame (by the standards of wide-angle optics) and is practically not subject to chromatic aberrations. In terms of sharpness and detail, it also does not graze the rear, which is clearly seen in the example of the "carcass" of the Sony A7R III camera with a sensor resolution of 42.4 MP.
