“Wide” is not cheap for Sony full-frame mirrorless cameras with a set of focal lengths of 12-24 mm and a constant aperture throughout the entire f / 4 zoom range. The optical design of the Sony SEL-1224G 12-24mm F4 G has 17 elements, united under the wing of 13 groups. There are four aspherical lenses on board, plus a number of elements made of low-dispersion glass (to minimize the negative impact on the picture of chromatic and other types of aberrations). When zooming and focus, they all move inside the lens body, which has dust and water protection properties. Speaking of focus, the Shirik uses the Direct Drive Super Sonic Wave autofocus drive to aim at the target. The minimum focus distance is only 28 cm. Internal focus
A wide view of the world around (122-84 °) dictates the conditions for the design of the lens. convex lens
The front lens of the Sony FE 12-24mm f / 4G is convex, which means that standard filters will not fit on it. The lens is framed by a built-in petal hood, which protects the frame from stray glare and reflections. However, sunny "bunnies" sometimes still get in the photo, but they do not make bad "weather". Also, vignetting, which appears when shooting on open apertures, does not have a negative effect on the final result.
wide view
The lens minimally distorts the geometry of objects in the frame (by the standards of wide-angle optics) and is practically not subject to chromatic aberrations. In terms of sharpness and detail, it also does not graze the rear, which is clearly seen in the example of the "carcass" of the Sony A7R III camera with a sensor resolution of 42.4 MP. With Sony FE 12-24mm f/4G optics in your arsenal, you can take a broader look at familiar things by fitting as much of the surrounding space as possible in one photo.
