The tiny fix Sonnar T* 35mm f/2.8 ZA for Sony FE full-frame mirrorless mount is a razor-sharp all-rounder for shooting diverse scenes. The lens is strong in the genre of street photography, landscape photography and is good as a fix for every day.
Hand of Zeiss engineers
The model was developed at the dawn of Sony's mirrorless full-frames together with optical designers from Zeiss. The name of this reputable German company is tattooed around the front lens and applied as a blue plate on the side of the lens. The Fix uses the Sonnar optical design (7 elements in 5 groups), and its design also uses a T* antireflection coating to minimize glare and light reflections. Such information about the lens is provided by decoding its full naming.
Compactness is everything!
The lens is exceptionally sharp across the frame from an open aperture of f/2.8. In terms of the maximum aperture value, the model is inferior to the lion's share of 35 mm colleagues in the workshop, but takes its toll with compact weight and size indicators — dimensions of 62x37 mm and a weight of only about 120 g. In addition, small, and therefore inexpensive filters with rim diameter of 49 mm.
"Pocket" format
A separate reason for pride is the low level of distortion along with the immunity of the lens to various types of aberrations. Things are a little worse for the model, except perhaps with vignetting, which is noticeable at an open aperture. Nevertheless, the best "pocket" fix for the Sony FE system has not yet been invented. A much faster alternative to it in the park of "native" optics is the large-caliber Sony Distagon T * 35mm f / 1.4 ZA with a price tag an order of magnitude higher.
