The youngest model in Sony's full-frame fifty-fifty league for mirrorless cameras. The lens has a focal length of 50mm and a fast aperture of f/1.8. You can use it as a regular optics for every day, in the genre of travel photography and even for portrait shooting. By the way, when paired with APS-C cameras, the lens produces an almost standard portrait focal length of 75 mm. The optical design of Sony 50mm f / 1.8 FE is simple - it consists of 6 elements in 5 groups.
Also, the diaphragm design of 7 petals stood out quite ordinary. When shooting, the lens boasts high sharpness from an open aperture and a soft bokeh character. An autofocus drive is installed inside the model, which provides focusing from a minimum distance of 45 cm. The model is assembled in an ascetic plastic case without any frills: there are no focus switching buttons. Near the front lens of a fixed lens there is a thread for filters with a diameter of 49 mm. In addition, the model impresses with its compact dimensions (69x60 mm) and low weight (less than 200 g).

I bought it a year ago. It's a great lens. It's really an excellent portrait lens and just a versatile lens for almost all life situations. The optical quality is flawless. I received it as a bundle with the A7 II, it came as a gift with the purchase. The cheapest lens in the FF line-up, but it turns out that doesn't mean it's bad. The first thing worth noting is the sharpness, even at a fully open aperture. Focusing during photography is fast and accurate. I use it for portrait and object photography. The lens is light and compact, easily fits even in a pocket. The main downside of the lens that I found is slow focusing during video shooting, you can hear the motor noise in the video. Therefore, I recommend using it only for photography. An excellent, budget option for portrait photography. Good, sharp image and fast autofocus.
