The American fashion brand Fossil turned out to be hardly the only manufacturer outside the IT scene that has successfully developed its line of Gen smartwatches. Unlike the universal Apple Watch and specialized Garmin watches, the Gen series flags include stylish, classic-style smartwatches for fashionistas, and the emphasis is not on the processor or new sensors, but on the design of the watch, the choice of materials, the types of straps and the variety of dials. In terms of functionality, this is a typical mid-level smartwatch, capable of not only displaying information about incoming notifications, but also receiving incoming calls from a smartphone using the built-in speaker and microphone.

They also help monitor changes in the body’s basic physical indicators (pulse, blood oxygen saturation, sleep quality, women’s calendar), but these capabilities are inferior to sports smart watches and trackers. Fossil specifically took this step, they say this is first and foremost a watch for fashionistas, and only then a useful gadget. The Fossil Gen case is most often made of steel and has WR30 water resistance, which means this is by no means a diving watch. And you should wear them more carefully in the rain. Moreover, all watches are equipped with quick-release straps of different types (rubber, silicone, metal), which are better suited for a given situation.

Fossil Gen watches run WearOS and are equipped with modern Bluetooth modules for pairing with smartphones. All current models have colorful AMOLED screens (note: less often OLED) with a good brightness reserve and high pixel density. Thanks to the built-in NFC chip, the latest iterations of the watch can be used for contactless payments in Google Wallet. The presence of 4 – 8 GB of internal memory makes it possible to load a pack of your favorite albums onto the watch and listen to music directly from them. A built-in GPS receiver is provided for navigation. The latest models have added map support.
