Specific types of supported cards should be clarified separately — usually these are popular SD or microSD, but even such media have differences in subtypes, speed classes and some other parameters, and slots for them may also have a limit on the maximum volume. However, anyway, the main use of a memory card is to record materials captured by the drone's onboard camera (thus, the card reader is often installed not even in the body of the device, but in the camera itself). Such a possibility is useful even when the copter has a live broadcast function (see the relevant paragraph) and the recording is made to an external device: even if some video fragments “disappeared” from the broadcast due to communication problems, they are likely to be written to the card. For example, in some models, GPS tracks of the routes traveled are recorded on such a carrier, while in others, the route or flight programme can be pre-recorded on the map and installed in the copter before the flight.
