DTS ES compatible AV receivers
DTS ES
— an additional tool in the DTS codec that allows you to complement the 5.1 system with an additional centre surround channel. At the same time, there are two varieties of DTS ES: Matrix, in which the sixth channel is “packed” into a signal for two rear channels (and is not heard in 5.1 systems), and Discrete, where it is recorded separately (more precisely, in parallel, along with the “package” in two rear channels). The first option is easy to write and is cheaper, the second one provides slightly better reliability and is better suited for multichannel systems. AV receivers may have one of these versions, or both.Show
