— in 11.1 systems, the five classic channels provided by the 5.1 system (centre, front left / right, rear left / right) are supplemented with 6 additional ones: two to the left and right of the centre, two above the front and two above the rear. This increases the fidelity of the multi-channel sound and expands it "height". However, receivers that support this sound are expensive and usually require support for specific technologies such as Dolby Atmos (see "Decoder support").
