AV receivers with auto sound calibration
— possibility of automatic adjustment of multi-channel sound. For a normal, reliable transmission of surround sound, it is necessary that the sound from each channel has a strictly defined volume and reaches the listener with a strictly defined delay. However, the correct location of the speakers alone is not enough for this: the features of sound propagation are also largely determined by the details of the situation (furniture, wall and floor coverings, etc.); and it is not always possible to ideally place speakers. Accordingly, the sound most often has to be further adjusted. Automatic calibration is carried out as follows: a microphone connected to the receiver is placed at the listener’s location and, by feeding a test signal through the speakers, the receiver “listens” to how the sound reaches the microphone, independently making the necessary corrections. Of course, this setting is also not always perfect, but it greatly simplifies the process.
