In some models from this category, there are two such speakers at once.The need for subwoofers is due to the fact that general-purpose speakers are not efficient at reproducing bass. This is especially true for laptops, where the main built-in speakers are small and designed mainly for high and medium frequencies. However the built-in subwoofers are also noticeably inferior to external ones in terms of power; however, even such equipment contributes to the sound improvement, making the bass more dense and rich. On the other hand, specifically in laptops, such features are not required so often, and if they are needed, it is often more convenient to use an external speaker system. Therefore, there are few configurations with subwoofer nowadays — these are mainly fashion models (see "By features") for multimedia purposes.
