SSD + HDD laptops
2 drives (HDD+SSD)
— laptops equipped with two drives at once: solid state SSD module M.2 and hybrid SSHD.About the first variety, see more. «Features of the drive - SSD M.2». As for SSHD, it is hybrid media, combining in one body the classic hard disk (HDD) and the SSD module of small volume. This built-in module is used as high-speed cache to speed up access to the main SSHD volume. Its presence slightly increases the cost, but the hybrid drive is still much cheaper than the corresponding volume SSD, and it works faster than the classic HHD.
As for the integration of such drives, in theory this is one of the most advanced variants found in modern laptops: the high-speed M.2-module is complemented by capacious and also fast hybrid drive. At the same time, this combination is more expensive than the more traditional version of «HDD+SSD» (see the corresponding paragraph). And the speed of SSHD, with the presence of separate solid-state module, is not so often really necessary. Therefore in our time such configurations are produced very few.
