Fast and silent autofocus. Magnetic cover. Compact dimensions and light weight.

A compact prime lens for everyday use and shooting the most diverse storylines. The versatility of the character of the model is explained by the focal length of 35 mm and f/2 aperture. The lens is available with mounts for Sony E and Leica L mirrorless mounts. It is optically constructed from 10 elements in 9 groups, with three of the total number of elements being glass aspherical lenses for correcting aberrations and field curvature.

The Sigma 35mm F2 DG DN is focused from a minimum distance of 27 cm. Fast and quiet focus is provided by the stepper motor of the autofocus system. Among other amenities, the lens uses a 9-blade aperture to smooth out glare from out-of-focus objects, and a protective cap is fixed to the front lens with magnets. By the way, suitable filters with a diameter of 58 mm can be attached to the lens. The model is made in a case with dimensions of 70x65 mm and weighs about 325 g.

The Sigma Contemporary Optics League covers lightweight and compact designs with standard optical properties at an attractive price. An affordable everyday prime option for Leica and Panasonic full-frame mirrorless cameras is the Sigma 35mm f/2 DG DN.

Fast and silent autofocus

The lens is assembled in a sturdy aluminium body with rings for manual focus and aperture changes from f/2 to f/22. When apertured, the ring emits characteristic non-switchable clicks, which is unlikely to be appreciated by videographers. In a separate order, the model has a slider for switching manual / automatic focus. In the "on the machine" mode, the stepper motor provides fast and silent aiming at the shooting object from a distance of 27 cm.

Optical design

The optical design of the lens uses 10 elements in 9 groups. A trio of them are glass aspherical lenses to eliminate distortion and minimize the level of chromatic aberration. The overall positive picture is reinforced by a 9-blade aperture, which allows you to get spectacular background blur when shooting scenes with a shallow depth of field. The lens draws a “Bokeshechka” to the best of its ability. Fans of full background shading should take a closer look at the Sigma 35mm f/1.2 DG DN Art.

everyday burden

The fixed lens is suitable for filters with a diameter of 58 mm. The front lens of the model has the same size, which is covered by a practical cap with a magnetic fastening. In addition, the Sigma 35mm f/2 DG DN Contemporary adds minimal weight to the photographer's burden — the lens weighs 325 g, and its body dimensions are 70x65 mm. Such a "glass" and I want to wear every day.
