A fast f/1.4 prime lens for owners of a wide range of DSLRs and mirrorless cameras. The model is compatible with both full frames and APS-C format cameras. In the internal hierarchy of Sigma, it is assigned to the art line of optics Art. Structurally, a fixed lens consists of 17 elements in 12 groups and has a 9-blade rounded diaphragm. The internal elements include three aspherical lenses, two FLD elements and three SLD elements made of extra-low dispersion glass.

When shooting with a shallow depth of field, the Sigma 28mm f/1.4 Art HSM DG provides spectacular background blur behind the subject. For focusing, the model uses an ultrasonic motor with a focusing distance of 28 cm. The front lens of the fixed lens is covered with a grease and water-repellent coating. Also near the front frame is a thread for filters with a diameter of 77 mm. As standard, the lens comes with a petal hood. Its construction is splash-proof.
