Sharp across the entire field at aperture 2.0. Fast af. Relatively quiet motor during video recording (with an external mic it is silent). Ideal for video at 100%. For photos, only if a moderate wide-angle is needed.

Left some test shots for those interested. Everything was shot handheld: 09180 with the illumination in the corners mentioned in the drawbacks, but don’t pay attention to its color balance - forgot to switch the WB to daylight; left a wall map taken with a flash showing the lens shadow. Macro shots with the icon can be used to judge resolution at different apertures. The icon size is 75x65mm. Didn't erase frames with the flash drive on the magazine cover for comparing the glass of Sigma AF 16mm f/1.4 DC DN and Sony SEL35, 35mm., F/1.8 in sharpness and reflections. And a few scenic shots from Sigma for the overall impression. One frame with the icon was taken with support - there’s no faulting the sharpness here - it is marked. I compared it with my Sony SEL35, 35mm., F/1.8 In terms of sharpness - Sigma is a priority. Although I didn’t see any difference at F8 and 10. Sigma's color is cooler, but there is no difference from natural color. When shooting a glossy magazine cover, a Japanese woman reacts more sharply to its reflection. Although, when filming landscapes close to backlit, I didn’t find any glare. True, Sonya didn’t have them either. At comparable apertures, Sigma has a larger depth of field due to its shorter focal length. Since the lens is for landscapes and architecture, I consider this a plus. When shooting macro, the center is sharp at almost all apertures, but the top of the center is shaded more than the bottom.
In the specifications, it said that it's dust and moisture resistant, but the warranty states that moisture, dust, dirt are harmful to the lens and it should not be exposed to high humidity.
There is no visible difference in depth of field at diaphragms from 7 to 11, but I liked the frame less at its maximum F16: I shot at ISO 100, and it seemed that with higher values it would have been grainy. However, I doubt that such closed diaphragms will be needed at its focal length.
It's quite large - it obstructs part of the frame when shooting with the built-in flash even without a lens hood. The lens hood attaches with considerable effort - it makes one worry about the lens. Perhaps, it's worth getting a case that fits with it attached.
In appearance and size, the Sigma loses to the Sony SEL35, 35mm, F/1.8, but for me that's not the main thing.
There are occasional focus misses: sometimes I manage to get a clear shot at 1/25s, and sometimes blurry ones at 1/50s. Distortion is noticeable, too - what else can be expected with a Focal Length of 16mm, although the camera settings are on “auto” for distortion, as recommended by the lens manufacturer.
When shooting indoors, considering the impossibility of using the flash, stabilization would be useful.
What I really disliked was that twice, fairly significant dark blue flares appeared in the corners of the frame. Once in the top right, and the second time in the bottom left corner as well.
Online the warranty is for 2 years, but the voucher states 1 year. The promised case wasn't included in the package either. I bought it at the "Fototekhnika" store at Taganka.

High luminosity

Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary is the first of the wide-angle fixed lenses with such an outstanding aperture of f/1.4. As a result, the model is perfect for working in low light conditions and will be able to provide increased control over the depth of field for selective focus control. The lens focuses from a distance of about 25 cm (from the subject to the plane of the camera matrix).

Optical scheme

The model is available in versions for Micro 4/3, Sony E, Canon EF-M and Leica T systems . The basis of the ultra-wide lens’s “insides” is an optical scheme consisting of 16 elements in 13 groups. Of these, two special elements have low dispersion (SLD) and three elements have extra-low dispersion (FLD) to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations. Two more aspherical elements in the scheme are used to eliminate distortions and also contribute to achieving overall image clarity.

Positive impression

The 9-blade aperture deserves special praise, due to the implementation of which there is the possibility of effective blurring of the background with the correct outlines of the round shape of objects in the out-of-focus area. The claims to the lens include the large dimensions of the body, due to which it gives a shadow in the pictures illuminated by the built-in flash. This flaw cannot be called critical, and in general the model leaves a purely positive impression after a close acquaintance.
