High luminosity
Sigma 16mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary is the first of the wide-angle fixed lenses with such an outstanding aperture of f/1.4. As a result, the model is perfect for working in low light conditions and will be able to provide increased control over the depth of field for selective focus control. The lens focuses from a distance of about 25 cm (from the subject to the plane of the camera matrix).
Optical scheme
The model is available in versions for Micro 4/3, Sony E, Canon EF-M and Leica T systems . The basis of the ultra-wide lens’s “insides” is an optical scheme consisting of 16 elements in 13 groups. Of these, two special elements have low dispersion (SLD) and three elements have extra-low dispersion (FLD) to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations. Two more aspherical elements in the scheme are used to eliminate distortions and also contribute to achieving overall image clarity.
Positive impression
The 9-blade aperture deserves special praise, due to the implementation of which there is the possibility of effective blurring of the background with the correct outlines of the round shape of objects in the out-of-focus area. The claims to the lens include the large dimensions of the body, due to which it gives a shadow in the pictures illuminated by the built-in flash.
