The focal length range of 24-70 mm is a kind of “gold” standard in the photography industry. The lion's share of all photographs are taken within these boundaries. It is with this focal range that the Sigma 24-70 F2.8 DG DN A lens shoots, maintaining a high maximum aperture of f/2.8 throughout the entire zoom range. The model from the Art line is notable for its excellent optical properties and is assembled to the highest standards.
Its design is based on an optical design consisting of 18 elements in 13 groups. The lens has an 11-blade aperture. It also has a silent and fast stepper drive installed under the hood for automatic focusing. Sigma's brainchild catches the focus on the subject in the frame from a minimum distance of 18 cm. Weighing about 835 g, the dimensions of the lens are 88x123 mm (in diameter and length, respectively). Together with the model, the photographer has the right to use large-caliber filters with a diameter of 82 mm. The zoom is available in two different versions for full-frame mirrorless cameras from Sony or Panasonic.

The lens is not bad, although it has its downsides, including the price. I really like the pleasant bokeh, even at 24 mm, which usually doesn't produce it. Quiet about 70 mm, everything's better there. The build quality is excellent, the weight is great. The focus ring is very smooth and pleasant to use. The motor is quick, but you can hear it in the video. You might not notice, but I do. Distortions are minimal, I didn't notice any aberrations. The weight is acceptable, as is the size. You shoot and get pleasure from photographing. Two points, the aperture is excellent, the diaphragm blades are perfect for the focal length. Yes, the price is steep, but photo quality is more important. Although they write that the focus is silent, you can still hear the motor working during initial focusing. Personally, I don't mind, but video quality might suffer if you're unaware of the moment. The plastic is very high quality, I've been using it for more than two years, and it's still in the same condition as when it was bought. The photos are at a high level, but the 18-35 definitely wins because it's simpler, more in demand, cheaper. Excellent assembly. Good build quality. Smooth focusing mechanism, a pleasure to use. Great versatile focus. It seems to me that it's a bit expensive. The price is on par with top lenses, which I can't say about the 24-70. |
