Most of these units have a one-piece layout: the motor, dust collector and nozzle are combined in one body, which the user holds during operation. Many models are equipped with built-in batteries, which provide maximum mobility; see "Power supply" for details. As for the application, manual household vacuum cleaners have a rather low power and flow rate, as they are mainly designed for small surfaces and hard-to-reach places that are difficult to reach with a conventional vacuum cleaner. Typical examples of such an application are cleaning dust from the upholstery and armrests of upholstered furniture, from various shelves and racks, collecting small debris from the desktop etc.

A separate case is the use of vacuum cleaners of this type for cleaning inside a car. Handheld household models are generally well suited for such cleaning due to their compactness and mobility. However, not every unit from this category was created based on such use Therefore, if you are looking for a model with the possibility of using it in a car, it is better to use the “car vacuum cleaners” item to select such models.
