— an accessory that has a USB-C connector on one side and a 3.5 mm mini-jack on the other.USB-C is a type of USB connector that has appeared relatively recently, but is increasingly used in modern electronics, especially mobile gadgets. In the latter, it is actually an evolution and improvement of microUSB: the USB-C connector has a more convenient double-sided design and is better suited for fast charging and some other advanced features. In turn, 3.5 mm mini-Jack is the most popular modern audio jack; most headphones and speakers for portable equipment are designed for it.
Actually, devices of this format are usually adapters (see “Type”) designed to connect “ears” and speakers with a mini-Jack plug to a USB-C connector and, accordingly, have a USB plug and a 3.5 mm jack. The appearance of such accessories is due to the fact that in some smartphones and tablets, manufacturers began to abandon a separate 3.5 mm jack and provide connecting headphones exclusively via USB-C (for various reasons — for the sake of compactness, security, simplification of design, etc.). At the same time, note that not every adapter of this type is able to work correctly with a headset that combines headphones and a microphone; so before buying such an accessory for a headset, it's ok to check its performance. But with traditional headphones (without a microphone), problems usually do not arise.
