It differs from previous generation boards on the B450 chipsets by supporting the high-performance PCIe Gen 4.0 system interface, which allows for a doubling of data exchange speeds with high-performance NVMe SSDs and significantly speeds up the loading of highly detailed textures in new video card models. The MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS motherboard is fully compatible with Ryzen 3000 processors (Matisse and Matisse Refresh cores, 7 nm), Ryzen 4000 hybrid APUs (Renoir core, 7 nm), and Ryzen 5000 processors (Vermeer core, 7 nm). It supports high-speed DDR4 memory up to 128GB (4x64GB), which is sufficient for any current and future games. Equipped with two M.2 slots for high-performance NVMe SSDs.

Model overview based on user reviews
The MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS motherboard is highly praised for its thoughtful design and reliability, making it an excellent choice for gaming and overclocking enthusiasts. Users appreciate the ample connectivity options, including a variety of ports and a convenient BIOS reset button. The motherboard's subtle LED lighting is noted for its aesthetic appeal without being overwhelming. It supports high-performance components, such as the Ryzen 7 5800X and Ryzen 5600 processors, and handles RAM efficiently, with users successfully running configurations like Kingston Fury DDR4-3200 and G-Skill Trident. While the BIOS may require some initial adjustments, updating it resolves any issues, ensuring smooth operation. The solid back panel design simplifies assembly, enhancing the overall user experience. Overall, the MSI MPG B550 GAMING PLUS is a reliable and well-designed motherboard suitable for mid-budget builds, offering a seamless setup and performance akin to a Swiss watch.
Pros

Cons

great reliable motherboard
27 April 2025
Bought it with a Ryzen 7 5800X processor, everything started up the first time without any issues. Also got Kingston Fury DDR4-3200, two 16GB sticks, installed them in slots 2-4 (leaving the first one after the CPU free), and it booted at maximum frequency as it should. A bunch of ports on the back panel, there's a BIOS reset button, everything is nice and well thought out. The lighting isn't too bright and slowly transitions through all colors. I'm not a big fan of lighting, but this one is subtle enough that I don't even notice it. I always opt for a full-size ATX to avoid any surprises during assembly, like RAM interfering with the CPU cooler or something else. Also, maybe a minor detail, but I noted for myself—this is my first motherboard where the ports on the back panel are enclosed in one solid block, or whatever it's called; when installing in the case, it's much more convenient than having a separate grille for connectors. I really liked that because it makes the assembly much easier. Overall, I can't even think of anything bad to say; everything was perfect during assembly. I'm glad I chose it and hope it lasts a long time.
there's everything you need, thoughtful design
nope
A good board for a mid-budget build.
14 August 2024
I took it under Ryzen 5600. RAM G-Skill Trident (2/16)=32 GB. Everything started and started to work like a Swiss watch.
Vrm of the power supply, backlight, appearance, 4 slots for RAM.
First of all, the bios, although the version was the penultimate, but I had to tinker a little. After that, I updated the bios, everything fell into place.
