With the release of the Canon G11, you can say: \\\"The megapixel war is over... Maybe\\\". For the first time, Canon has started a policy of reducing megapixels in its compact digital cameras. The new compact has a matrix of 10 megapixels versus 14.7 for the younger model, while the matrix remains 1/1.7". The company paid a lot of attention to noise reduction and image processing in this direction. The new DIGIC 4 image processor (for the compacts of this line) has reduced noise by a step. The device is equipped with a new rotary display with a diagonal size of 2.8".

The i-Contrast intelligent contrast correction system has been applied to the photo, which, by its work, helps not to lose details in the dark parts of the picture and avoid overexposed areas of the photo. Also applied is a new Low Light mode that allows you to shoot in low light with noise reduction at a wide ISO range. Ability to use ISO values up to 12800, with a frame size of 2.5 megapixels.

Of the additional equipment, it is worth noting the possibility of connecting external flashes, which significantly expands the range of application. As well as a Canon WP-DC34 underwater box specially designed for this camera. An HDMI port has also been added, making it easy to connect the camera to a TV for viewing images and videos.
