The entry-level camera in Canon's mirrorless lineup with RF bayonet mount, equipped with a 24.1-megapixel APS-C format image sensor. This model is aimed at beginner photography and video enthusiasts. It is built in a compact body with dimensions of 116x86x69 mm. The "bare body" of the camera weighs about 356 g. A signature feature of the Canon EOS R100 kit 18-45 is the Dual Pixel CMOS AF autofocus system with intelligent subject recognition within the frame.

The model uses a mechanical shutter with a rear curtain, which imposes certain limitations on continuous shooting speed: with tracking autofocus, it is 3.5 fps, and with single-shot autofocus, it is 6.5 fps. The budget nature of the camera is also revealed by its ergonomics - the mirrorless camera is equipped with a fixed screen without touch control support and only one control ring on the top of the body.

Fortunately, there is space for an electronic viewfinder window. The camera records video materials in Full HD resolution (1920x1080 fps) at 60 fps from the entire matrix surface and in 4K frame format (3840x2160 pixels) at 25 fps with image cropping and autofocus based only on contrast. The camera's onboard wireless communications are represented by Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules. Included with the mirrorless camera is a versatile zoom lens Canon RF-S 18-45mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM.
