The Sony A7s branch of full-frame mirrorless cameras has always been released with an emphasis on advanced video shooting capabilities. The third model in the generation "Sensitivity" was no exception to the rule — a top product for those who know a lot about high-quality video recording. The heart of the camera is a stabilized back-illuminated sensor, which stands out from its peers with a relatively low resolution (12.1 MP).
As a result, each individual photocell in the sensor design has been made larger in size, which increases the dynamic range to 15 stops and gives high working ISO. It's no joke, the maximum sensitivity threshold of the camera matrix is 409,000 ISO units. Image processing here is occupied by a high-performance BIONZ XR processor. A hybrid autofocus system is responsible for focus, consisting of 759 phase detection points and 425 contrast autofocus zones.
When recording to a memory card, the camera shoots 10-bit 4:2:2 footage in 4K resolution at a frame rate of up to 120 fps. From the HDMI output, the operator can record 16-bit ProRes Raw in 4K at 60 fps. The memory card slots on board the camera are combined and designed to accept UHS-II or CFexpress Type-A SD cards. In addition, the model got hold of a bright viewfinder of high resolution (9.44 million pixels), a 3-inch diagonal touch screen, a full package of popular wireless communication modules (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC). In terms of battery life, the camera is able to shoot about 600 frames on a single charge of a standard battery.

The Sony A7s series of cameras has always been aimed at professional videographers, and 2020 saw the release of the third version of this mirrorless camera.
Full frame back-illuminated sensor
This model has a 12 MP back-illuminated image sensor. However, the pixel size is large, which allows you to achieve a high threshold of peak light sensitivity up to ISO 409600. The minimum ISO is 40. The camera matrix is installed on a stabilizing platform, and the matrix stabilizer allows you to compensate up to 5.5 stops of shutter speed or exposure.
Top video footage
The camera is intended primarily for video recording. It doesn't support 8K, but it can record 4K video at 60fps without binning. The camera does not overheat and can record video for up to 1 hour. By increasing the frame rate to 120 frames per second, 4K video is shot with a small crop (1.1x). Internal video recording supports 4:2:2 color and 10-bit color depth on SD UHS-II or CFexpress type A memory cards. Recording bitrate can reach 500 Mbps in XAVC-SI mode and about 200 Mbps in XAVC mode -HS with H.265 compression. Through the HDMI 2.1 port, the camera can output a 4K video stream at 60 frames per second in 16-bit ProRes Raw format. The camera also supports S-Log 2 and S-Log 3 gamma profiles with up to 15 stops of dynamic range.
Hybrid autofocus system
The mirrorless camera's autofocus system operates on a hybrid principle, combining 759 phase detection points and 425 contrast zones. She is able to recognize the eyes and faces of people, as well as the eyes of animals.
