A well-known Chinese manufacturer of cables, chargers and the like, BASEUS, has been trying to move away from this reputation in recent years and is actively investing in the development and production of headphones, actively promoting the “Baseus Sound” sub-brand. The company’s progress is especially noticeable in the premium Simu in-ear TWS headphones, which are light years away from the usual cheap BASEUS Encok models.

The Simu lineup is not impressive in terms of diversity. It seems that BASEUS did not chase the departing train and produce dozens of similar variants, as in the more mass-produced Encok and Bowie series. Instead, they released less than half a dozen well-designed headphones with similar design and functionality. In 2021, the first pair of Simu S1c arrived on store shelves with an active noise reduction system, transparent mode, Bluetooth connection and rather bassy dynamic drivers.

In 2021 and 2022, the Chinese manufacturer released several logical updates, among which the most attention was attracted by the in-ear Simu S2 with a more advanced noise reduction system, increased battery life, low latency gaming mode and fast charging. Also, several modifications of Simu with the Pro prefix entered the market, in which the manufacturer improved the design of the emitters and added support for wireless charging.
