Quieter than water, lower than grass

Noctua NH-L9a-AM4 chromax.black is the lowest profile cooler (only 3.7 cm high) for AMD AM4 processors, even more compact than the junior boxed Wraith Stealth. At the same time, it is significantly more effective than the Wraith Stealth and even the average Wraith Spire, approximately at the level of the older, higher Wrath Maximum That is, it is enough to cool the processor with a TDP of 65 W without any noise, and even 95 W at maximum speed.

Copper and aluminium

The NH-L9a-AM4 heatsink consists of a series of aluminium fins, two copper heat pipes and a nickel-plated sole in contact with the processor. And all this is painted with black matte paint, for which the model received a postscript in the name chromax.black. NH-L9a-AM4 chromax.black occupies almost the entire space around the processor socket and stands right next to the RAM, graphics card and processor power subsystem heatsinks.

Fan upgrade

The complete Noctua NF-A9x14 PWM fan, as you might guess from the name, has a diameter of 9 cm and a height of 1.4 cm. lower to 1800. If desired, the fan can be changed to 2.8 cm to increase the airflow. However the main advantage of the cooler will disappear in this case — a record-breaking low height.

For AMD but not Intel

Installing the NH-L9a-AM4 chromax.black cooler on the motherboard is extremely easy and simple, thanks to the proprietary Noctua SecuFirm2 mount. In addition to the AM4 version of the cooler, there is NH-L9i chromax.black for Intel LGA1151 processors (and probably the upcoming LGA1200 too). However, if you have already bought one of these coolers, you can purchase a mount for an alternative platform (Intel or AMD) separately. In general, the low-profile coolers of the Noctua NH-L9 series are undoubtedly the best choice for building a PC in a thin Mini-ITX case, whether it's a "home theater" or a compact gaming one.
