Intel Core i5 Raptor Lake Refresh processors are an update to Intel's 14th-generation processors, featuring a range of improvements over previous models. The main focus is on increasing clock speeds and improving multitasking, and they use the well-known LGA 1700 socket, which allows users to easily upgrade their systems with minimal cost. Similar to previous generations, the Core i5 Raptor Lake Refresh chips use a hybrid core structure, where the cores are divided into two types: powerful P-cores and energy-efficient E-cores, as is common in mobile ARM processors.

Specific cores are engaged depending on the current load type: P-cores are designed for complex tasks, while E-cores are better suited for handling simple tasks in the background. The hybrid architecture optimizes the overall performance level and reduces overall power consumption. Depending on the specific model, the Core i5 Raptor Lake may include either 10 or 14 physical cores.

In the former case, there are 6 P-class cores + 4 E-cores. Depending on the specific processor, P-cores can automatically boost to 4.7 - 5.3 GHz, while E-cores operate at frequencies from 3.4 to 4 GHz. Thanks to Hyper-Threading support, the number of concurrently processed threads can reach 16. Moreover, the Core i5 Raptor Lake Refresh processors support 16 lanes of PCIe 5.0 system interface, providing the highest data transfer rates between components. Another important feature is the ability to work with two types of RAM—DDR4-3200 or DDR5-5600. Unlike the 13th generation, the Raptor Lake Refresh series chips can work with a RAM buffer of up to 192 GB. Previously, the maximum was 128 GB.

Intel Core i5-14600KF is a processor with Raptor Lake Refresh hybrid architecture, combining six powerful cores, each of which is divided into two virtual Hyper-Threading threads, and eight additional energy-efficient cores. A total of 20 threads are obtained, the load on which is evenly distributed by the intelligent Intel APO (Application Optimization) scheduler.

Auto overclocking 5+ GHz

APO is the main distinguishing feature of the 14th generation Intel Core from the previous 13th, which used a more primitive Thread Director. Games get the biggest performance boost from APO, up to 15 percent. Automatic overclocking Intel Turbo Boost raises the processor frequency to 5.3 GHz, while the heat dissipation increases to 181 W.

Two types of memory

Intel traditionally does not include a boxed cooler for processors with the K index, and it would not have been able to handle it. A large tower or even a liquid cooling system is definitely needed. RAM is supported by both DDR4 and DDR5, but not both types at once, with frequencies up to 8000 MHz. But there is no integrated video card, as evidenced by the F index.
