The ability to reach 6 GHz is provided by Thermal Velocity Boost technology, previously used in a special variant of the Core i9-13900KS.
The frequencies for P-core max are increased by 200 Hz to 5.6 GHz, as well as by 100 MHz for E-core max. The base frequencies for P-core and E-core have been increased by 200 MHz compared to the previous generation.

The lineup of flagship 24-core processors with unprecedented performance levels for the mass market, offering support for PCIe 5.0, DDR5, and Thermal Velocity Boost. These series' representatives belong to the high price segment and are primarily aimed at workstation owners, for processing multimedia content, audio, video and graphic rendering, engineering calculations, compilation, etc.

They are also perfectly suitable for use in elite gaming PCs with a solid power reserve for several generations ahead. Compared to the 13th generation Core i9 processors, the Raptor Lake Refresh models offer improvements in clock rates and support for modern technologies, while maintaining the main characteristics of the previous generation. The main improvements of the Core i9-14900K compared to the previous model i9-13900K involve clock rate increases.

The clock rate of P-cores is increased by 200 MHz and E-cores by 100 MHz. This provides a performance boost within 5-10% in various tasks. The Core i9-14900K specifications are as follows: 8 high-performance cores and 16 energy-efficient cores total 32 threads, P-cores can boost up to 5.6 GHz, while E-cores can boost up to 4.4 GHz. The cache size is 36 MB L3.

The maximum thermal design power (TDP) is 125 W, and the maximum turbo power reaches 253 W. In gaming, the Core i9 Raptor Lake Refresh chips show excellent results, but sometimes fall behind cheaper models like the Core i7-14700K, especially in some tests. This is due to game optimization for fewer cores and higher clock rates per core. Additionally, the Core i9 Raptor Lake Refresh processors support the same PCIe 5.0 and 4.0 interfaces, as well as other connectivity options, as previous models. The same LGA 1700 socket is used for connection, as in previous generations, so it is not necessary to buy a new motherboard for the new processor.

Flagship solution on Intel LGA 1700 platform

Intel Core i9-14900K is a top representative of the Raptor Lake Refresh line (14th generation), aimed at creating powerful gaming and work configurations. The processor is equipped with 24 physical cores (8P + 16E) and can handle up to 32 threads simultaneously. With a maximum P-core frequency of up to 6.0 GHz, it demonstrates outstanding single-thread performance, which is especially important for modern demanding games such as S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2: Heart of Chornobyl and TES IV: Oblivion Remastered.

Universal soldier

Like other representatives of the 14th generation, the Core i9-14900K is designed for the LGA1700 platform, supports DDR4-3200 and DDR5-5600 memory, as well as the PCIe 5.0 interface. The processor has an unlocked multiplier, making it attractive to enthusiasts and overclockers. In gaming scenarios, it demonstrates high efficiency, especially at 1080p and 1440p resolutions, where frame rates and single-thread performance are important. In the battle against the Ryzen 7 7800X3D with 3D cache, it remains competitive in games and wins in mixed tasks due to the larger number of cores and threads.

Maximum performance requires appropriate environment

To unlock the potential of the Intel Core i9-14900K, an advanced motherboard with a quality power system, a powerful power supply, and effective cooling are required—thermal output under heavy load can reach 250–300W. It's also worth noting that this is the last generation to support the LGA 1700 socket: when upgrading in the future, you will need to transition to a new platform, considering Intel's tendency for regular architecture changes.
