No overpayment for novelty
Despite the release of the new Intel LGA1151 Skylake platform, the LGA 1150 Haswell processors, which include the Celeron G1840, do not lose their relevance. And all because the Celeron and Pentium chips of the previous generation are 25 percent cheaper than new ones, losing to them in performance by 5 percent. Moreover, motherboards based on the old Intel H81 chipset are significantly cheaper than on the new H110.
Two cores and graphics to boot
The Celeron G1840 has only two computing cores, which is not many by modern standards, but they are built on the high-performance Intel Haswell architecture (used in older Core i3, i5, i7 chips). A bonus is the integrated Intel HD graphics accelerator, which allows you to not only run popular games like WoT, Dota and CS without problems, but also smoothly play 1080p video at high bitrate thanks to Quick Sync technology.
Mandatory minimum
As a result, the Intel Celeron G1840 is exactly the processor from which you should start counting when assembling a low-cost PC, whether it's an office "typewriter" or a home media centre. Only the power-efficient Intel BayTrail / Braswell and AMD AM1 processors are cheaper than it, but they are more suitable for thin clients of remote server access than for self-sufficient PCs.
