The Compact SFX series from the Taiwanese manufacturer Chieftec includes miniature SFX class power supplies, created for those rare cases when the user needs a moderately powerful and at the same time compact system for work or play. In contrast to the standard PSU, the height of the Chieftec Compact SFX does not exceed 64 cm, and a compact 80 mm fan is responsible for cooling the device. At the same time, their power connectors are identical, which simplifies installation and dismantling of the system when moving to a new building.

Despite their size, the Chieftec Compact SFX models are not much inferior to full-length ATX PSUs, having a significant power reserve, a productive 12-volt line and high-quality circuitry with active PFC, separate step-down DC/DC converters, capacitors from Nichicon/Nippon and a wide operating voltage range. In addition, the manufacturer guarantees the competent implementation of all necessary security mechanisms (OPP, OVP, SCP, OCP, OTP, SIP, UVP and AFC). Another important feature of the series is that the cost of the Chieftec Compact PSU is approximately the same as other models of the 80+ Gold class, although most manufacturers have learned that good SFX units cost a lot of money.

Since 2018, Chieftec has released 3 different modifications of the same power supply with a choice of powers of 450, 550 and 650 W. Considering the exorbitant consumption of GeForce 30XX and 40XX video cards, the manufacturer recommends Compact models for miniature, medium-power gaming builds. Ideally, the power supply should have a reserve of 10-20% of its total power, then it will not make much noise, and all components will not be in a state of constant overheating, reducing the life of the device.
