Optical

— a type of mechanical keyboard where each key is equipped not with a traditional pair of contacts, but with an optical switch in the form of a sensor that receives an infrared beam. One of the key advantages of such switches is very high actuation speed (fractions of a millisecond), which is crucial for gaming enthusiasts and eSports players. Additionally, the absence of electrical contacts, which tend to wear out and oxidize, positively affects durability. And although initially "optics" is more complex than classic contact systems, optical-mechanical switches in gaming keyboards are often even cheaper than pure "mechanics". The fact that this variant is relatively rare is primarily due to the optical technology being quite new and just gaining popularity.
