Premium telephoto lens for Canon systems with EF mounts and full frame sensors. One of the main features is the dust and moisture-proof housing, which allows the lens to be used in adverse conditions. The focal length range is 70-200 mm, while the aperture is unchanged — f / 2.8, and the front lens is fixed. The design includes an image stabilizer, as well as an ultrasonic autofocus drive.

The newly designed optical system of the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM is based on the design of its predecessor, adding an integrated Image Stabilizer. This new system achieves a stabilization effect equivalent to about 3 stops of shutter speed, compared to about 2 stops on previous Canon IS lens stabilizers.
In terms of better image stabilization than previous models, high resolution, high contrast, and dust and splash resistance, this top-of-the-line lens is far ahead of both previous models and competing models in its class.
Internal focus combined with a USM ring ultrasonic motor for quiet, high-speed autofocus is more effective than the EF 70-200mm f/2.8L USM lens. Fully manual mechanical focus is available all the time, including without leaving the autofocus mode. For ease of use, the lens is also equipped with a wide focus ring and a zoom ring.
When focus, the front lens is stationary, which is very convenient for applying certain types of filters, such as polarizing ones. Four UD ED lenses provide excellent compensation for residual chromatic aberration, resulting in high image quality throughout the zoom range. The lens can be used with the Canon Extenders EF 1.4X II and EF 2X II without losing autofocus and stabilization capabilities on a number of high-end single-lens reflex cameras such as the EOS 1V.
This lens is the latest addition to an extensive portfolio of over 60 EF lenses.
