The official sequel to the popular ROG Strix motherboard that Asus launched in 2018. Like its predecessor, this model belongs to the ATX format, is based on the mid-range B450 system logic and is designed to work in tandem with a mid-range AMD processor. In particular, it is friends with most Ryzen processors based on the Zen 2 and Zen 3 architecture, including both the younger Bristol Ridge generation chips and the near-top Ryzen 7 processors from the Matisse, Renoir and Vermeer lines.
The manufacturer is positioned as a model of the middle price category, designed for assembling gaming systems of medium and high levels. Like all members of the ROG Strix series, the board has extensive overclocking capabilities, which will be of interest to overclocking enthusiasts who want to get the most out of the processor, graphics card and RAM chips. The main board is a moderately powerful 12-phase power subsystem with additional cooling of the near-socket space, VRM zone and replaceable heatsinks for M.2 slots.
To install DDR4 modules, there are 4 slots with support for a clock frequency of 4400 MHz and a maximum capacity of 128 GB. Two M.2 ports are provided for installing high-speed NVMe SSDs. Ordinary SSD or HDD drives are connected to one of the 6 available SATA connectors. The Gigabit LAN controller Intel I211-AT is responsible for connecting to the network and processing traffic. Additional board bonuses include support for dual graphics cards in Crossfire mode, a USB 3.2 Gen 2 controller, and a SupremeFX S1220A audio path with surround sound and digital noise reduction microphone. Like most motherboards in the ROG Strix series, it features RGB lighting with Aura Sync connectivity.
