Case/case

Such packaging is more convenient than improvised one — it was originally designed for a certain model of the device, moreover, it often has a place for additional accessories, such as probes or replaceable batteries. As for the difference between cases and covers, the former provide more reliable protection against impacts and are better suited for large and heavy devices, while the latter are more compact, and generally take up minimal space during off-hours.
