Not all processors are equipped with cooling systems by default, this is especially true for OEM versions and some BOX versions intended for people who prefer to select components for their systems themselves. And this can be either a massive tower structure or a compact low-profile “sandwich”, created as a replacement for the main fan from the conventional Core i3 or Core i5. It is these low-profile replacements for stock systems that are coming out as part of the Alta series from Deepcool.

The average Deepcool Alta model is a low-profile CO with a small heatsink and an active fan without any heat pipes or copper soles. Depending on the model, the fan rotation speed can be either fixed or varied using PWM technology. The height of the structure, depending on the model, does not exceed 73 mm, which negates potential problems when installing a massive video card and RAM modules with high heatsinks.

Considering that the series is tailored to the Intel platform, the Chinese manufacturer rarely updates the line. Until recently, it featured only two turntables - the regular Alta 7 and the modified Alta 9 with an increased thermal package, which is more useful for cooling multi-core processors of the Core i7 caliber. After the launch of the Intel LGA 1700 platform, Deepcool released a modified version of the Alta 9 PWM 1700 with support for the socket of the same name.
