The American company Patriot is gradually winning the hearts of European buyers, turning into a serious rival for Kingston, Corsair, Crucial and other RAM manufacturers. The success of Patriot Memory is due to its affordable prices, solid technical characteristics and a wide selection of available options. The brand’s assortment includes several popular lines, which are easy to get confused with if you’re not used to them. The Signature line refers to the entry-level, the Viper series includes mid-level products, and the Viper Elite flags include top-level memory. Well, after the mass introduction of the DDR5 standard, the company decided to launch a separate Viper Venom DDR5 series.

Compared to its predecessor, DDR5 is characterized by high speed, support for Plug N Play, as well as double the number of banks and increased packet length. This adds up to a much higher operating frequency and increased throughput. In particular, Viper Venom modules are designed to operate at frequencies from 5200 to 7400 MHz, which is 2-3 times higher than DDR4, and their maximum memory capacity can be an impressive 64 GB (note: when using 2 32 GB sticks). They also support the third version of XMP technology and a built-in error correction system, like in server RAM.

In visual terms, it turned out to be something between the Viper Elite II and Viper Steel models: the printed circuit board is covered on both sides by a thick metal radiator, designed to cool the ardor of the controller controller during heavy overclocking. The height of the modules at the highest point reaches 43 mm, which can cause problems when assembling a PC with a massive tower cooler of the Deepcool Assassin level. To simplify interaction with memory, support for XMP 3.0 technology is provided with pre-selected operating settings for frequency, voltage and timings. It should also be noted the high quality of the modules, due to careful quality control and the use of selected memory chips from the best manufacturers.
