In the 2022-2023 Z series TVs, Sony has perfected LCD screens with a hybrid Mini LED/FALD backlight, which makes the image brighter and more contrasty through the use of tiny LEDs. At the same time, the backlight itself is distributed more evenly than in the case of traditional LEDs, and for more precise control, modified XR Backlight Master Drive and X-Wide Angle technologies were built into the Cognitive XR control processor for more precise control over the LEDs and adaptation of the image when viewing under angle.

In general, the Sony Cognitive XR post-processing processor supports literally all the advanced image optimization technologies that Sony tested in the X1 processor and then refined in its “smart” Cognitive series chips. We are talking about XR Super Resolution, XR Smoothing, XR Triluminos Pro, Live Color, XR Contrast Booster, XR HDR Remaster, XR Motion Clarity, as well as a proprietary upscaler of the original image up to 8K. The processor processes perspective like the human eye, instantly cross-analyzing and optimizing hundreds of small objects on the screen. The overall quality of Sony Z displays and advanced algorithms ensure deep, natural and realistic images in any environment.

Otherwise, the Z series TVs have something in common with other flagship models from Sony from the A90/A95 and X90/95 series. All of them run Android TV/Google TV, are equipped with a built-in Google Assistant, and due to their high brightness, masterfully display high dynamic range content (HDR10 and Dolby Vision), and also support VRR and ALLM technologies necessary for comfortable gaming on PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X. The premium sound of this line is usually provided by a built-in stereo system of 4 or 6 speakers and a subwoofer (power 75 - 90 W) with support for Acoustic Multi-Audio and Dolby Atmos.
