The gold content of the material varies depending on the assay; in jewelry, the most popular 585 and 750 samples, with 58.5% and 75% silver, respectively, are the most practical options in terms of price, hardness, appearance and durability. In addition, different impurities provide the alloy with different colours, which is why these types of gold are distinguished:

— White. Created as an imitation of platinum — not cheap in itself, but much more affordable than platinum itself. For extra shine, it is often covered with rhodium. Nickel was often included in the composition of white gold some time ago, causing irritation on sensitive skin; now this practice has been almost completely abandoned, but the composition of the alloy still does not hurt to clarify before buying.
— Yellow. The traditional colour of gold — except that in alloys it is noticeably paler than that of pure metal. Such decorations look bright and noticeable; However they scratch and fade over time, but it is not difficult to restore the shine.
— Red. A gold alloy with a high copper content, relatively inexpensive, but at the same time quite beautiful. In addition, red gold is durable in the sense that it resists scratches and is better than other types of gold for everyday wear.

In general, jewelry gold is much more expensive than silver, but this cannot be called a clear disadvantage: expensive jewelry can have an important symbolic meaning for a couple, as well as emphasize the status and financial situation of spouses.
