Such a burner has the form of a metal “pancake” protruding above the surface, under which an electric heater coil is placed. The main and the only advantage of such burners is their low cost. But in use, they are not very convenient: solid plates slowly heat up and slowly cool down, which complicates the power adjustment. In addition, over time, the solid plate burner may become deformed and will have to be changed; and cleaning such surfaces is not very convenient. As a result, all solid plate burners are used mainly in low-cost-class hobs.
