In four- and five-burner models, the electric burner can be used as a “spare” in case of interruptions in the gas supply or as a specialized one (for example, have an elongated shape and play the role of an oval dual zone, or even be a grill with a grate). However, there are also models of the “2 + 2” layout, with the same number of electric and gas burners.

In general, combined models have more extensive capabilities than specialized ones, but they require connection to both electricity and gas and are noticeably more expensive.
