The Smart line from Chieftec includes mainly miniature computer power supplies in the SFX and TFX formats, which take up significantly less space in the case than classic power supplies. At the same time, the Smart assortment, on the one hand, is rich in choice, on the other hand, this wealth can confuse an unprepared reader. For example, in addition to small-sized power supplies of the SFX and TFX standard, this series contains more classic ATX class options designed for full-size cases.

Considering the specifics of the SFX line, its model range is dominated by power supplies with not the largest power reserve. For simpler options, this figure can be around 300 W, while for the most productive modifications the limit can reach 600 W. Otherwise, they differ from each other in terms of dimensions, number of connectors and the range of available protections. Otherwise, this is a purebred low-cost class in which Chieftec engineers put literally everything under the knife. There is no backlight, there is no software to control the turntable, and there is no beautiful packaging either. At the same time, the cables are short, the appearance is as mundane as possible, there is nothing in the box except the power supply itself. This is asceticism. Efficiency ranges from 80 to 85%; they usually save on quality certificates.

In terms of cost, relevance and popularity, the Chieftec Smart A8 model is in greatest demand. Ironically, this is not a miniature SFX format power supply, but a standard ATX model with familiar dimensions. Unlike other “smart” devices, it offers the potential buyer a choice of 6 power options: 400, 500, 550, 600, 650 and 700 W. Otherwise, this is a fairly simple ATX 2.3 power supply with an efficiency of around 80%, active PFC, fixed cabling and a wide main power line (approx: about 90% of the total power). In fact, this is the most common and at the same time quite high-quality power source, quite suitable for gamers and assemblers who do not care about fashionable lighting and “gold” quality certificates.
