For the key features of all batteries, see the title paragraph of this list. And this standard size, known colloquially as “finger”, is one of the most famous and popular. It is used in both rechargeable and non chargeable batteries; and only relatively recently, in connection with the miniaturization of electronic devices, such elements began to gradually give up their positions to more miniature AAA.

AA elements have a cylindrical shape, a size of 14 m and a length of 50 mm. These sizes are identical to 14500 batteries (see relevant paragraph), however these types of power supplies are not interchangeable due to the difference in voltage. For AA size, the nominal value is 1.5 V, but most batteries produce only 1.2 V (the only exception is 1.6 V Ni-Zn cells, but they are still used extremely rarely). However, this is not a serious drawback: in most devices for AA batteries, this feature is taken into account, and there are no problems with compatibility. The capacity of batteries of this size directly depends on the manufacturing technology: 600 – 840 mAh for Li-Ion, from 600 to 1000 mAh for Ni-Cd and up to 2750 mAh for Ni-Mh. This is comparable to the performance of salt disposable batteries, but in general is noticeably lower than that of alkaline batteries. On the other hand, certain types of batteries (Ni-Cd and Ni-Mh) are much better suited for devices with high current consumption than disposable cells; For more details, see “Technology”.
