An advanced professional-grade mirrorless camera equipped with a 45.7 MP full-frame image sensor. The sensor is placed on a movable stabilizing platform, which ensures the operation of the matrix stabilization system. The key difference between the second generation of the camera and the previous model is the work under the control of two Expeed 6 processors at once. In practice, a combination of two processors gives a faster processing of photographs and videos, it also performs better when shooting at high ISO and improves focusing accuracy in conditions of extremely poor illumination of the frame.

The speed of burst photography on the camera is 10 fps, while up to 77 shots in RAW format (12 bit) are placed in the memory buffer. Focusing Nikon Z7 II kit meets the hybrid automatic focusing system of 493 points of contrast and phase type. When shooting video, real-time eye autofocus and animal recognition are supported. Video recording on the camera is possible in a maximum resolution of 4K at 60 fps. For storing footage, two slots are provided at once: a combined CFexpress / XQD and a connector for UHS-II SD cards. The camera is equipped with a high-definition OLED viewfinder, a 3.2-inch swivel touch screen, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless adapters for over-the-air pairing with mobile devices.
