Full-frame mirrorless mini built in an ultra-compact body weighing less than half a kilogram (including battery). The model is focused on the audience of video bloggers and is completely tailored specifically for video shooting. Inside the camera, a back-illuminated CMOS Exmor R matrix is installed, providing a dynamic range of up to 15 stops of exposure and ISO up to 409600. The resolution of the sensor is small - 12 MP.

The stabilization system on board the camera is based on the shift of the image sensor, it works in five axes. In addition to the BIONZ XR processor, the mirrorless has a separate artificial intelligence module for autofocus with object recognition. Based on AI algorithms, an active dynamic image stabilization mode, framing stabilization, creative zoom control, multiple face detection, and a mode for shooting products are implemented.

At the time of release, Sony ZV-E1 kit supports recording 4K video at up to 60 fps, but subsequent firmware allows you to record videos in 4K already at 120 fps, and in Full HD - even at 240 fps. In terms of video shooting, the camera provides support for Cinematic Vlog, My Image Style, S-Gamut3, S-Log3. For the sake of keeping its compact size, the model does not have a viewfinder. But the mirrorless is equipped with a 3-inch swivel touch screen diagonally. At the top of the case, in addition, there is an array of microphones with three capsules, and the sound is recorded using AI algorithms. A Sony FE 28-60mm f/4-5.6 kit lens is usually supplied with the camera.
