Nikon Z5 body
Videos 43Photos 11 |
A mirrorless camera from Nikon's full-frame squadron, positioned as an entry-level model. The Nikon Z5 body relies on a 24MP non-backlit image sensor with an on-board matrix stabilization system that delivers up to 5 stops of exposure when shooting in low light conditions. Also, a fast EXPEED 6 image processor is installed inside the mirrorless camera. Under his command, the rate of fire in burst photography mode is at the level of about 4.5 fps.
The video sequence is recorded on the camera in resolution up to 4K (3840x2160 pixels) at 30 fps. The only “but” is the 1.75x image crop factor in ultra-high resolution mode. Videos in FullHD are recorded from the entire plane of the matrix with a frame rate of up to 60 fps. The operator has access to inputs for connecting headphones and an external microphone. The 273-point AF system focuses on human eyes and animal faces. The mirrorless camera features a 3.2-inch touch-screen swivel screen, a high-resolution OLED viewfinder, a dual SD slot with UHS-II support, and an extensive list of wireless communications. In the “body” configuration, the camera is supplied without optics, i.e. in the form of a naked "carcass" of the camera.

Affordable flagship with a full-frame sensor
The Nikon Z5 is an affordable mirrorless camera that brings the full-frame concept to a wider audience. It is the entry-level model with a full-frame sensor.
Full-frame sensor with built-in stabilization
Inside the camera is a 24-megapixel matrix without backlighting, supported by the EXPEED 6 image processing processor. For this matrix, working ISO values up to 6400 units are considered. The sensor is mounted on a movable stabilizing platform, which compensates for displacements along 5 axes. Matrix stabilization provides a gain of up to 5 shutter speed stops.
Effective autofocus
For autofocus, the camera uses 273 phase-detection sensors on the matrix, supporting tracking of objects by eyes and faces, as well as pets' muzzles. Composition of the frame is carried out through the electronic viewfinder or the rotating touch screen. Saving of the footage is possible on two SD UHS-II cards, which allows using them both sequentially and in parallel.
Main characteristics
The model demonstrates a modest continuous shooting speed of up to 4.5 frames per second, which makes it not the best choice for reportage photography. Also, the Nikon Z5 has limited video recording capabilities in 4K - videos are recorded with a crop factor of 1.75x and a frame rate of 30 fps. In Full HD format, data is read from the entire matrix area and with a frame rate of 60 fps. However, one of the noticeable advantages is the dust and moisture protection of the body, which allows you to shoot in adverse weather conditions without any problems.
