Topaz

— a rather massive stone, at one time it was valued almost at the level of a diamond, but nowadays it is more likely to be classified as semi-precious. Topaz can be almost any colour, but in jewelry, mostly transparent stones of orange (yellow-pink), yellow and blue shades are used. The most expensive variety of blue topaz is called "London topaz", they have a rich blue colour.

It is worth noting that despite the similarity of names, topaz has nothing to do with rauchtopaz — smoky quartz. They differ not only in composition, but also in properties: smoky quartz is much lighter and less valuable.
