Fixed bridge electric guitars
Fixed
— a bridge that is fixed and does not have a device for changing the tension of the strings — that is, not adapted for playing tremolo: the player can only use string tightening on the fretboard. This somewhat narrows the possibilities for musical experiments. On the other hand, fixed bridges are simpler and more reliable than tremolo machines, fixed instruments are easier to tune and stay in tune longer. The most popular types of breeches of this type are Hardtail and Tune-o-Matic. The first variety is considered to be characteristic mainly of Fender-style guitars, and is found predominantly in Superstrat-style bodies (see "Body Shape"); The "hardtail" design allows you to individually adjust both the scale and the distance to the neck for each string. Gibson-style guitars (in Les Paul and similar bodies) are equipped primarily with Tune-o-Matic; such a bridge also allows you to separately adjust the scale, however, setting the distance to the neck is carried out only by changing the inclination of the entire bridge relative to the soundboard.
