Les Paul

— models inspired by the Gibson Les Paul, Gibson's first solid body electric guitar (and one of the first such guitars in the world). The case has the shape of a characteristic "eight" with an almost round bottom and a single cutout in the top; the pegs are usually arranged three on each side of the headstock. The pickups are usually a pair of humbuckers (see "Pickup Diagram"), and tremolo machines (see "Bridge") are rarely used.
