Vise

— a vise is a device for fixing certain parts for the purpose of processing. The working element of the vise is a pair of parallel jaws; these jaws are compressed using a special mechanism (see "Compression mechanism"), and after compression they remain in this position. Most vises are of a stationary design, and when used, they are fixed to a workbench, bed, or other fixture, with only one of the jaws remaining movable.
