Foldable knives
Foldable
— foldable models. In knives, most often when folding, the blade rotates around an axis installed at the base by 180°, due to which the cutting edge is hidden in the handle, and only the butt remains outside; but there are other options, for example, OTF (see "More features") or butterfly (see "Type"). Multitools, in turn, are almost all made foldable (exceptions are extremely rare), but the procedure is somewhat different in them.In any case, the folding design is convenient for transporting the knife: it takes up less space, and the likelihood of unwanted contact between the cutting edge and surrounding objects is practically reduced to zero. On the other hand, the folding mechanism increases the cost of the knife and somewhat reduces its reliability compared to fixed ones (however, the latter is relevant only for the most difficult work).
