However, the main feature of such a device is not the placement, but the principle of operation: if other switches change the direction of rotation by controlling the current on the motor windings, then the brush regulator changes the position of a special movable brush holder. This control principle is considered more advanced: it allows you to develop maximum power in any direction of rotation without additional tricks (which is not always available with electronic adjustment), and also reduces wear on individual engine components. On the other hand, brush switches are quite complex and expensive, and therefore are installed mainly in a powerful professional tool.
