Such optics have good initial parameters, good performance characteristics according to the test results, while it costs relatively little (or its high price is fully justified by the functionality).

In general, two main categories of multifunctional lenses can be distinguished: models with a wide range of focal lengths (from "wide-angle" to "long-range", for example, 18 – 200 mm), and models with high aperture (usually f / 2.8, and even f / 2.0), unchanged over the entire range of focal lengths (the range itself is usually more modest than that of the first variety).
