With the Passport series, WD makes interesting external drives that usually fall into the "designer" category. A key feature of the Passport drives is the split-in-two front panel, with one half made flat and smooth, while the other is an angular corrugated pattern. Also, all Passport models are united by a wealth of colors: in addition to the usual black, gray and white drives, you can find an orange, yellow or green model here.

An excellent illustration of what has been said is the HDD for WD Passport Portable mods with the unpronounceable name WDBYVG0020BBK-WESN. It is one of the lightest, thinnest and most compact external hard drives on the market, available in capacities up to 5 GB. It weighs only 120 grams, fits easily in the pocket of a bag or backpack, and the soft touch coating does not collect fingerprints, so it always looks clean and tidy.

A little less than ten external hard drives from 1 to 5 TB were released in the assortment of the WD Passport series. Almost all of them are made in the same style, they are visually distinguished by the division along the case - for some drives, the case is divided into two halves by a horizontal strip, for others it runs diagonally from the top right edge to the bottom left. From a technical point of view, they all belong to the 2.5 format, they also have the same spindle speed - 5400 rpm. To connect to a laptop or PC, in most cases, a modern USB 3.2 gen1 interface with USB-C and USB A connectors is used. The range includes specialized models tailored for the MacOS operating system.
